Green procurement

Because Pure is involved from the beginning of the supply chain, we play an important advisory role for our customers. It gives us an ideal position and, with that, a responsibility towards a green and healthy environment. We always ensure that we comply with all applicable laws and regulations, but we feel that this is not where our responsibility ends. We always try to use our involvement to steer towards more sustainable decisions.

Our ambitions in the field of sustainability and CSR have led to the certification of our business processes according to ISO 14001. Just a few starting points that are part of our standards:

- Thinking sustainably starts at an early stage. During the product design, we already ask ourselves questions such as: “Do we really need these products?”, “Can these products be used in a sustainable way?” or “Is there a more sustainable alternative for this product?”

- Before we start our production, we consider the materials we’re using. We prefer materials that can be recycled, are made out of recycled materials or are renewable. For this reason, we prefer materials such as paper, wood, bamboo, cork, cane sugar, straw, and rPET instead of plastics.

- We only work with trustworthy suppliers who themselves also follow sustainability policies and have a green product certification.

- Audits, quality control and laboratory tests are part of our procedures – preferable with our own people in control in the country of origin. Especially when production is in the Far East or anywhere in Europe, we can use our own staff to safeguard our environmental standards.

- Packaging leaves ecological footprints. Mainly because most packaging materials often have a relatively short lifespan and sometimes causes unnecessary production. This is why we don’t want more packaging than is needed. Also, we will always pick recycled packaging materials over new packaging materials.

- Transport systems have a significant impact on our environment. With efficient transport planning, we try to limit our transport movements and select the most sustainable – and therefore environmentally friendly – way of transportation. For example, we always try to avoid air freight as much as possible.

For us, being sustainable is no longer a choice. Thinking sustainably is already part of who we are. Luckily, this is something that our customers recognise. Thanks to that, we are able to establish sustainable relationships with our customers, in which we are continuously working towards a mutually sustainable business.

It is our belief that a flourishing business is possible, but only if we let the earth flourish.

ISO 9001 is an internationally recognized standard with requirements in the area of quality management. It is an independent and expert measure for transparency and reliability. Quality management is reflected in all parts of the process in our organization. This ensures that every product or service meets the needs, requirements, wishes, and specifications of customers, as well as other stakeholders such as governments. With our ISO 9001 quality management system, we have ensured that continuous improvement of quality is part of our business operations.

Quality Control

Our commitment to being a responsible and sustainable business extends to how we manage our supply chains around the world. Our team regularly monitors compliance and works with our suppliers to ensure we all meet our Code of Conduct requirements for industry-specific audit standards, methodologies and protocols. In order to carry out the necessary production and quality checks, Pure is affiliated with a sister company in Asia that has offices in Hong Kong and China. This gives everyone more certainty about the quality control checks, which begin with factory inspections before production even starts and end with pre-shipment checks.

Intertek and SGS are our independent partners for product testing, laboratory testing and certification services. SA 8000®

Pure only works with factories that comply with our Code of Conduct, which itself is in line with SA8000® criteria. SA8000® is the world’s first auditable social certification standard for decent workplaces across all industrial sectors. SA8000® not only sets standards for workplaces, it also subscribes to international agreements such as the conventions of the International Labour Organisation, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The SA8000® standard spans industry and corporate codes to create a common language to measure compliance with social regulations and laws. Companies that wish to meet SA8000® criteria have policies and procedures in place that protect the basic human rights of workers. The management system supports the sustainable application of SA8000® principles concerning the following: child labour, forced and compulsory labour, health and safety, freedom of association and right to collective bargaining, discrimination, disciplinary practices, working hours and wages.

We geven de voorkeur materialen die recyclebaar zijn, vervaardigd zijn uit gerecycled materiaal of hernieuwbaar zijn, of een afvalbeperking hebben. Zodoende winnen materiaalsoorten als papier, hout, bamboe, kurk, stro, zetmeel, kurk en rPET terrein op plastic en andere kunststoffen.

- Om de kwaliteit en oorsprong van onze producten te kunnen garanderen, vinden wij het belangrijk om met goede en betrouwbare leveranciers te werken, die zelf ook een duurzaam beleid voeren en groene certificering hebben.

- Audits, kwaliteitscontroles en laboratoriumtests zijn onderdeel van onze procedures. Bij voorkeur met onze eigen mensen in het land van productie. Zoals we dat doen in het Verre Oosten en Europa, waar onze eigen mensen onze standaarden qua duurzaamheid waarborgen.

- Wij vinden het belangrijk dat de ecologische voetafdruk van onze producten zo klein mogelijk blijft, en daarom denken we goed na over de manier waarop onze producten verpakt worden. Dit omdat veel verpakkingen een korte levensduur hebben, en in sommige gevallen onnodige handelingen in het productieproces met zich meebrengen. Om deze reden zien wij graag dat er zo min mogelijk verpakkingsmateriaal wordt gebruikt, en juichen wij het gebruik van gerecycled verpakkingsmateriaal toe.

- Ook het vervoeren van producten kan grote ecologische voetafdrukken achterlaten. Om deze reden proberen wij onze transportbewegingen te verminderen en te verkorten. Door goede planning kunnen wij de minst vervuilende manier van transport selecteren. Zo proberen wij luchttransport zoveel mogelijk te vermijden.

Duurzaamheid is voor ons geen vraag, het is sinds oprichting integraal onderdeel van onze dienstverlening. Gelukkig herkennen onze klanten dit, en hebben wij hierdoor duurzame relaties kunnen ontwikkelen waarin wij voortdurend werken aan het verder verduurzamen van onze gezamenlijke activiteiten.

Om de benodigde productie- en kwaliteitscontroles te kunnen realiseren heeft Pure in Azië een zusterbedrijf, met vestigingen in Hong Kong en China. Dit geeft u meer zekerheid in het traject van fabrieksinspecties vóór de productie tot en met de pre-shipment kwaliteitscontrole.

Umweltfreundliche Beschaffung

Umweltschutz haben wir in unserer DNA

Da Pure von Beginn der Lieferkette an involviert ist, spielen wir eine wichtige beratende Rolle für unsere Kunden. Das gibt uns eine ideale Position und damit auch eine Verantwortung gegenüber einer grünen und gesunden Umwelt. Wir stellen stets sicher, dass wir alle geltenden Gesetze und Vorschriften einhalten, aber wir sind der Meinung, dass unsere Verantwortung hier nicht endet. Wir versuchen immer, unser Engagement zu nutzen, um auf nachhaltigere Entscheidungen hinzuwirken. Unsere Ambitionen im Bereich Nachhaltigkeit und CSR haben dazu geführt, dass wir unsere Geschäftsprozesse gemäß ISO 14001 zertifiziert haben. Hier ein paar Ansatzpunkte, die zu unseren Standards gehören:

- Nachhaltiges Denken beginnt bereits in einem frühen Stadium. Schon während des Produktdesigns stellen wir uns Fragen wie: „Brauchen wir diese Produkte wirklich?“, „Können diese Produkte nachhaltig verwendet werden?“ oder „Gibt es eine nachhaltigere Alternative für dieses Produkt?“

- Bevor wir mit der Produktion beginnen, überlegen wir, welche Materialien wir verwenden. Wir bevorzugen Materialien, die recycelt werden können, aus recycelten Materialien hergestellt werden oder erneuerbar sind. Aus diesem Grund bevorzugen wir Materialien wie Papier, Holz, Bambus, Kork, Rohrzucker, Stroh und rPET anstelle von Kunststoffen.

- Wir arbeiten nur mit vertrauenswürdigen Lieferanten zusammen, die selbst auch Nachhaltigkeitsrichtlinien verfolgen und eine grüne Produktzertifizierung haben.

- Audits, Qualitätskontrollen und Labortests gehören zu unseren Abläufen – vorzugsweise mit eigenen Mitarbeitern in der Kontrolle im Herkunftsland. Insbesondere wenn die Produktion in Fernost oder irgendwo in Europa stattfindet, können wir unsere eigenen Mitarbeiter einsetzen, um unsere Umweltstandards zu sichern.

- Verpackungen hinterlassen ökologische Fußabdrücke. Das liegt vor allem daran, dass die meisten Verpackungsmaterialien oft eine relativ kurze Lebensdauer haben und manchmal eine unnötige Produktion verursachen. Deshalb wollen wir nicht mehr Verpackung als nötig. Außerdem ziehen wir immer recycelte Verpackungsmaterialien neuen Verpackungsmaterialien vor.

- Transportsysteme haben einen erheblichen Einfluss auf unsere Umwelt. Mit einer effizienten Transportplanung versuchen wir, unsere Transportbewegungen zu begrenzen und die nachhaltigste und damit umweltfreundlichste Transportart zu wählen. Wir versuchen zum Beispiel immer, Luftfracht so weit wie möglich zu vermeiden.

Nachhaltig zu sein, ist für uns keine Wahl mehr. Nachhaltig zu denken, ist bereits Teil unseres Selbstverständnisses. Glücklicherweise ist das etwas, das unsere Kunden erkennen. Dadurch sind wir in der Lage, nachhaltige Beziehungen zu unseren Kunden aufzubauen, in denen wir kontinuierlich an einem für beide Seiten tragfähigen Geschäft arbeiten.

Es ist unsere Überzeugung, dass ein florierendes Unternehmen möglich ist, aber nur, wenn wir die Erde florieren lassen.
